Bird Boxes
It is important to thoroughly clean your bird boxes each year. Mites, which live in the remains of the old nest, will attack newly hatched chicks. Either pour boiling water (with extreme care!) through the empty nest box, or use an aviary cleaner spray.
Please keep feeding (and providing drinking water) for your garden birds during the winter and spring. This is particularly important if we experience another harsh winter; the glut of berries and other fruit this autumn has been a bonanza for the birds and they have scarcely used garden feeders. The best location for feeders is close to bushes or trees, which provide an escape route from predators.

Geology Leaflet
John Varker has compiled a new version of his popular Geology Trail leaflet. It has excellent colour photographs and fascinating descriptions of the stone used in the church building and some memorials in the churchyard. Copies are at the back of church, price £2.50. We are very grateful to John for all his hard work in producing this leaflet.
