St. Chad's Choir Choirmaster: Richard Wilson email from here I write this at the end of a busy year. My thanks as ever go to all members of the choir for their attendance and hard work. At times there aren't many adults, but quality makes up for quantity! It is difficult to extend the repertoire without a regular full 4-part choir. I know from comments that many of you enjoy the music: but we do need help in all 4 parts and especially in Sopranos and Altos. We are a group who know each other well but are always pleased to welcome new members. So if anyone is interested in joining us then please get in touch with me. It is important that we can all work together as a group so there would be a short audition and a ‘trial' period so we can see how we get on. Terrific Trebles I am delighted to report that the Terrific Trebles are now well established and have worked extremely hard since the beginning of January. Numbers did vary initially but we have now ten members whose attendance is very good. In the last few weeks they have clearly increase in confidence and most have tried singing a solo passage during practices. This came to fruition when Tristan Bagnall sang his first solo in a church service before they broke up for the summer holiday. Considering how little church music of any type they knew, you must realise what a large amount of ground has been covered – they have had to learn 5 hymns a week and an anthem. The choir always welcomes new recruits and I hope that we shall see some at the beginning of the September term. Richard Wilson Organist & ChoirmasterChoir practice is from 4:15 to 5:15 on Wednesdays at St Chad's Church, Otley Road. Sing with the choir on Sunday mornings: Meet in the Choir Vestry at 9:15 for a service that starts at 9:30. |
