Time & Talents Parish visiting team at St Chad'sThe Community Engagement team has met a few times recently, and one hope that has emerged is that we should seek to involve more people in some of the social care we can offer people in the Parish. My hope is to convene a team of 'pastoral visitors' who would be willing to visit folk in the parish as part of our community outreach - on an occasional basis. There are various reasons for parish visiting, for instance: to support people who are unwell, to befriend people who are socially isolated and feel lonely, and to offer companionship to people who have recently suffered a bereavement as well as establishing less formal contact with people new to the congregation. |
We believe that this can be done at St Chad's in such a way that our community outreach can be shared, so the load does not fall heavily on any particular people - in other words, we can work as a team! It is not intended to be an onerous commitment for those who volunteer, recognising that we all live busy lives. Could this be you.? If you would be interested in joining the visiting team, in any capacity, please come along to a meeting from 7.30 - 9pm on Wednesday 16 May in the bar area of the Parish Centre.
