Ways to be Green

* How to be really green - an article on choosing to be vegetarian

* Join the Green Team
The Green Team is looking for new members (especially amongst the younger members of the congregation) and fresh ideas! If anyone would like to join us, please speak to me or email s.dalton@lineone.net. We are a very friendly group which meets about six times a year in the Parish Centre, at a time convenient for everyone. If you can offer help please contact one of the Green Team through the Parish Office

* Recycle and Re-Use
An update of the Green Team’s “Recycle/Re-use” leaflet is available on the church web site (click here) or in paper form at the back of church. The Recycling Box in the Welcome Porch is for used reading glasses, mobile phones, computer cartridges, batteries, postage stamps, felt tip pens, biros and high-lighters. Christmas cards (for recycling) will be collected in the Parish Centre on Sunday 12th January 2014

Recycling opportunities in Leeds - You'll never believe what you can recycle instead of sending it to landfill. Click here for details of what can be recycled and who wants it.

Current Recycling Initiatives at St Chad's

How many used pens do you throw out? You can help Lineham Farm Children's Centre raise funds just by collecting any used pens which will then be sent for recycling.

Every used ballpoint pen, felt tip, propelling pen, correction fluid, marker and highlighter, of any brand or material, can be collected. Please leave them in the recycling box in the Welcome Porch at church and the Green Team will take them to Lineham Farm.

. Bottle Bank at the Parish Centre. It takes all colours of glass.
. Old mobile phones - leave in the box in the Welcome Porch.
. Printer cartridges from computers - leave in the box in the Welcome Porch.
. Used postage stamps - leave in the box in the Welcome Porch.They are a source of revenue for mission charities.
. A Magazine exchange takes place on the 4th Sunday in most months.
. Old reading glasses (Click on the link to find out how this works) are now collected in the mobile phone/computer cartridge box in the Welcome Porch.

As an experiment, we will also accept old hearing aids (place them in the same box as reading glasses). Hearing aids are refurbished by trained prisoners at Frankland Gaol, and sent out to South America, the Indian sub-continent and Africa , for people with hearing loss.
